Butterflies

Having spent my entire life in my home country before moving to the UK, I often found myself feeling like I didn't quite belong. Some of society's general thoughts are outdated and exclusionary, so I chose not to follow them, and as a result, I was isolated.

Despite my hopes of finding a sense of belonging in the UK, I still found myself feeling isolated and disconnected.

I overlooked that I'm too Korean to fit perfectly in this country, but also, I'm not enough 'Korean' to belong in Korea.

This piece expresses all forms of confusion I've experienced every time I realize I can't belong everywhere as a Korean woman.
